CARL WAYNE "MURPH" MURPHY COX FUNERAL HOME BASTROP, LOUISIANA Mr. Carl Wayne Murphy was born in Bastrop, Louisiana on August 18, 1947. He passed away following an extended illness on February 14, 2018 at the St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe, Louisiana. Services celebrating his life will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 17, 2018 at the Bonne Idee Assembly of God near Mer Rouge, Louisiana with Bro. Todd Wooden and Bro. Jerry Stuckey officiating. Committal services and interment with military honors will follow at Carter Cemetery under the direction of Cox Funeral Home. Visitation with the family will be on Friday, February 16th, beginning at 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Cox Funeral Home of Bastrop. Carl was a veteran of the United States Air Force having served his country during the Vietnam Conflict. He was a retired postal carrier with the U.S. Postal Service and a member of the Salter Hunting. Club. Most importantly, Carl was a Christian man and a beloved husband, father, and a devoted Poppa to his grandchildren. Carl is preceded in death by his parents, Dee Leonard Murphy and Patsy Belle Edmondson Murphy. Mr. Murphy is survived by his wife of forty-four years, Cheryl Murphy; his three children, Carla Murphy Tripp, Clay Murphy and wife, Tonya, all of Collinston, Louisiana, and Mallory Murphy of New York, New York. He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren, Cade Murphy, Cole Murphy, Millie Tripp, Daniel Tripp, III, and Marley Tripp and his faithful dog, "Mister Murphy". Serving as pallbearers are Paul Lemoine, Josh Morrison, Jason Musgrove, Brent Tippen, Charlie Laseter, Sr. and Charlie Laseter, Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby Adams, Al Rea, and James Stanfill.
