Carmel McLaughlin, native and resident of Central, LA, went home to be with The Lord on Tuesday, March 31, 2015. Carmel was born on April 9, 1933 and she passed away at Baton Rouge General Hospital on Bluebonnet at the age of 81. She retired from the East Baton Rouge Parish School System as a school bus driver in the Central area, with 33 years of service. Carmel never met a stranger and genuinely loved being around people. She is survived by her son, Ronald T. McLaughlin of Newburgh, IN; her daughter, Cecelia M. Casselberry (Paul) of Geismar, LA; three grandsons: Michael T. McLaughlin, Dennis C. McLaughlin, and Joseph J. Casselberry III; one sister: Nelrose Bailey; two brothers: Thomas H. Montgomery, Jr. and Kenneth C. Montgomery (Betty); brother-in-law: John W. Kelly, Jr. and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas H. and Wilma C. Montgomery; a sister: Joyce M. Kelly; brother-in-law: W. R. Bailey, Jr.; sister-in-law: Lou V. Montgomery; and nephew: Thomas H. Montgomery, III. Visitation will be at Blackwater United Methodist Church on Good Friday, April 3rd from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM. The funeral service will be performed by Rev. Jonathan King at 11:00 AM. Burial will immediately follow the service at the Blackwater United Methodist Church cemetery across from the church. Pallbearers are: James Bailey, Joseph Casselberry, III, John Kelly, III, Eugene Lopez-Ona, Michael McLaughlin, and Craig Montgomery. Carmel was a member of Blackwater United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Blackwater United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund.
