Carol Gillet, age 74 of Pace, Florida, left this life to be with her Lord Monday, November 20, 2017. Carol was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, in 1943. When she was three years old, Carol and her family moved to Miami, Florida, where she was raised. Therefore, she said she thought of herself as a "Southern Lady."
Our Southern Lady entered the banking world (for 10 years) as teller, savings officer, and secretary to the vice president of First Federal Savings and Loan Association. She married her husband and best friend, Edward "Ed" Gillet and relocated to Pensacola, Florida, in 1973. She then began a 30-year career at Gulf Power Company working in several areas, but mostly in the Executive Department as an executive secretary to one of the vice presidents.
After moving from Pensacola to Pace, Florida, Carol joined First United Methodist Church of Pace in 2004 where she was active in her Christian Faith and Hope Group. She was a member of both Pilot Club and Red Hat Society. Carol loved traveling and joining friends for fun, spent many hours gardening in her beautiful yard, and always looked forward to new adventures.
Carol was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Gillet; her son, Scott Gillet; her parents, James and Grace Cox; and her sisters, Sandy Willis and Nancy Simons.
Visitation for friends and family will be from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., Sunday, November 26, 2017, at First United Methodist Church of Pace. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, November 26, 2017, at First United Methodist Church of Pace. Interment will follow at Bayview Memorial Park. Officiating will be Pastor Mark Lilly. Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel will be in charge of the services.
