Carol Jean Walker, 62, of Toledo, passed away at Flower Hospital Monday, October 17, 2016. She was born the daughter of Vern and Kathleen (Streiffert) Walker on May 28, 1954 in Fremont, Ohio. Carol graduated in 1972 from Gibsonburg High School with her close knit of friends, Susie, Mary Jane, Cindy and Terri. After graduation, Carol earned her RN degree at the University of Toledo in 1975, and worked for 28 years at the Toledo Hospital in the PACU and Open Heart Units. Carol had a big heart and loved helping others. She used her skills as a nurse to make a difference in the lives of others by volunteering in Peace Corp, where she was stationed in Bogota, South America from October 19, 1976 through 1978 providing medical relief to those in need. In addition, Carol was a member of the Ohio Disaster Medical Assistant Team, which provided care to those devastated by hurricane Andrew. She was also a part of the medical team that assisted the athletes participating in the 1976 Atlanta Olympics. In her free time, Carol enjoyed traveling all over the state, as well as broad, and loved watching the shows at the Stranahan Theater and living Toledo life. She was a long-time member of the Glass City Toastmasters, where she developed her skills in public speaking, and a member of the Memorial Lutheran Church in Toledo. Carol leaves behind her very good friends Susie (John) Bricker, and Pat (Herb) Stimson.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Keller-Koch-Chudzinski Funeral Home, 416 S. Arch Street, Fremont, Ohio, 43420. Per her request, services for Carol will be private.
