Carol Elaine Post, 67, of Lincoln, passed away June 21, 2017 after a 14 year battle with cancer. Born September 29, 1949 in McCook, Nebraska to Herman and Martha (Stewart) Berns.

Carol was a proud and considerate grandmother, a caring and nurturing mother, a loving and devoted wife, as well as a selfless and true friend. Through these roles she epitomized the virtues of compassion, loyalty, sincerity and grace.

Carol and Don Post were married in Red Cloud, Nebraska on November 8th, 1969. They enjoyed 47 years of marriage as they built their family together. Their loving bond in matrimony was an example to all who knew them. Carol adored her role as a mother to her two children. She instilled in her children the virtues of being as open-minded and kindhearted as she was.

She truly loved time spent with her siblings, nieces, and nephews; laughing and reveling in each others company. Her natural maternal nature showed through as she relished the role of being an aunt to many that she loved and whom she was able to watch grow. She also played a role in raising countless children through her work as a daycare provider for over 20 years.

Carol had an extensive group of friends that she loved to spend time with. She enjoyed participating in social groups that allowed for her spontaneous and fun loving personality to shine through. Her smile was contagious and her sense of humor was uplifting.

Carol had a myriad of hobbies and interests. She enjoyed painting ceramics and scrapbooking. She was an avid reader who could often be seen enjoying book after book in her leisure time. While a fan of many music styles, she especially loved the music of Elvis Presley.

Although her struggle is now over, she will live on in the loving memories that she inspired in all of those whose lives became brighter through the opportunity of knowing her.

Carol is survived by her husband Don Post, Lincoln, daughter, Meagan (Ryan) Wittmann, Lincoln, son Andrew (Becky) Post, Denver; grandchildren, Noah, Mary, and Adam Wittmann, Lincoln; five sisters, and two brothers.

She is preceded in death by her parents Herman and Martha (Stewart) Berns and her infant son Matthew Post.
