Carolyn Honeycutt Sherron, 83, passed away on May 7, 2017 surrounded by family. She was born on April 11, 1934 on a farm in Sampson County, the daughter of Stacy and Janette (Nettie) Honeycutt. Carolyn graduated from Salemburg High School in 1952, where she was a member of the basketball team and Beta Club. She graduated from Pineland College in 1954, where she played basketball.

Following graduation, Carolyn moved to Raleigh to work for First Citizens Bank. She married J.K. Sherron Jr. in 1958. Carolyn subsequently worked in the NC Legislature and for The News and Observer. Carolyn and J.K. founded CENTURY 21 J.K. Sherron and Associates in 1993.

She was a key partner in J.K.'s political life when he served as a state Senator for 10 years. She was an active member of the Sir Walter Cabinet. She also helped found and sponsor the Wilder's Grove Youth Center cheerleading program. Carolyn was an active member of Millbrook Baptist Church.

Carolyn was a devoted and loving caregiver to J.K. from 2001 until his death in 2015.

Carolyn was preceded in death by J.K., her parents, and her sister, Geraldine Keen (Jim). She is survived by her son, J. Kemp Sherron III (Mary), and daughter, Kathy S. Ridick (Bob), all of Raleigh. Carolyn is also survived by six grandchildren: Jim "Jay" Sherron, Harrison Sherron, Ali Sherron, Robert "Trey" Ridick, Alison Moore (Alex) and Erin Ridick. Also surviving is brother, Stacy M. Honeycutt (Katherine) of Fayetteville.

Visitation will be Thursday May 11, 2017 at Millbrook Baptist Church, 1519 Millbrook Road, Raleigh, 27609, from 1:00-2:00 PM. Funeral Service will be at 2:00 followed by interment at Montlawn Memorial Park.
