Carrol Lee “Butch” Blackwell, 84, of Columbia passed away on Wednesday, November 29, 2017, at Boone Hospital.



Visitation will be from 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, December 3, 2017 at New Horizons United Methodist Church in Columbia, followed by memorial services at 2:00 p.m. Inurnment will take place at a later date at St. Francois Memorial Park in Bonne Terre, Missouri.



Carrol was born on July 19, 1933, in Bonne Terre the son of Roscoe and Ruth (Maddern) Blackwell, both of whom preceded him in death. He was married on December 18, 1954, to Doris Ann King, who preceded him in death in 2008.



He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Rolla School of Mines and Metallurgy. Carrol worked as a civil engineer for the US Army Corps of Engineers. While there he was a district superintendent and director of operations in Portland, St. Louis and finally retired in Kansas City. He was Past Master of Ferguson Masonic Lodge #542, and a member of Scottish Rite. Carrol was an active member of New Horizons UMC in Columbia. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and building model airplanes.



He is survived by: his sons: Jeffrey (Susan) Blackwell of Minneapolis; Tim (Janie) Blackwell of Jefferson City; grandchildren: Michael, Matthew, Olivia and Briana; 5 nieces and 3 nephews. He was also preceded in death by 3 brothers and 1 niece.
