Catherine ‘Kay' Brown (Nixon) born August 25th, 1922 passed away with family by her side on Friday, January 5th. She lived a very full life and left us at 95 years old. Kay was a trailblazer and a beautiful soul inside and out. She lived an incredible life, filled with adventure, love, friends, family and laughter. She was born in Arcadia, MO joined the Navy in 1944, married the love of her life in 1945 and spent forty plus years farming, raising a family in Cloverdale; an area she loved passionately. She loved the mountains and not a day went by without her appreciating their beauty. When Kay met her husband, the late Ed Brown, in the Navy, after only a few hours of meeting at a Navy dance, they both said ‘this is it,’ and they were together ever since that first meeting almost 70 years ago. They still held hands up until Ed passed in 2013. Kay would leave this world with Ed’s wedding ring around her neck; a true symbol of the beautiful iife they lived. Her family lovingly knows they are finally back together, fishing somewhere in heaven. Kay was proceeded in death by her husband Ed, sisters Peggie Yeager and Barbara Robbins. Kay is survived by: Children: David Brown, Jackie Brown, Larry Brown, Patty Sanders; as well as four grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Ed’s family truly became Kay’s family and she is also survived by brother and sister-in-law Don and Kay Brown as well as numerous nieces and nephews in Oregon and Missouri. Please join us Saturday, January 13th 11:00 AM at Redmond Memorial Cemetery for a grave side service. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later time.
