Cecil Merritt Cork, 77, a resident of Montgomery, Alabama went to be with his Lord on Tuesday, December 26, 2017. He was preceded in death by his parents Robert Cecil and Irene Myers Cork as well as his only sibling, William T. Cork. He is now survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Delores Freeman Cork and two daughters, Wendy Cork Sheehan (Patrick) and Christy Cork Beerse (Danny). He is also survived by three wonderful grandchildren: Lauren Acker, Ryder Sheehan, and Colbie Sheehan.

Cecil worked 33 interesting years for the State Public Health Department that began when he was hired to start the Air Pollution program for the State in 1965. During the next 13 years he worked for the City of Montgomery Engineering Department. In retirement, he loved his woodworking, fishing, yard work, and Auburn football. His B.S. degree was completed as a co-op student at Auburn, and his M.S. was earned at Vanderbilt University.

A visitation is scheduled for Saturday from 11:00 until 12:30 with a celebration of his life at 1:00 p.m., all at his home church of Catoma Baptist Church, 4300 Old Selma Road where he served as a deacon and in many other capacities through the years. Pastor Donnie Dickens and Darrell Jennings will be officiating.
In lieu of flowers, anyone who wishes may contribute to Catoma Baptist Church (at the above address) or the American Bible Society, P.O. Box 96812, Washington, DC 20090-6812.

Burial will be private for the family at Greenwood Cemetery in the Garden of Prayer.

Sincere thanks to a host of outstanding medical personnel and wonderful prayer warriors during his long and difficult illness.
