Charlene C. Sexton ORANGE- Charlene C. (Qualters) Sexton, 77, of 295 Wheeler Avenue, died early Monday morning, March 8, 2010, at the University of Massachusetts Memorial Healthcare- Campus, in Worcester, following an illness. Born in Gardner on August 1, 1932, she was a daughter of Charles H. and Arlene C. (Hughes) Qualters, and grew up in Athol, graduating from Athol High School in 1951. She then graduated from Green Mountain College in Poultney, Vermont in 1953. Charlene was married to Raymond T. Sexton on April 14, 1956 and enjoyed 46 years together until his death on June 13, 2002. Following college, Charlene taught physical education at Athol High. Charlene and Raymond lived in Erving for 32 years before moving to Orange in 1995. She was a member of the former St. Blanche Church in Erving as well as a member of the St. Blanche Women's Club for many years. Charlene was also a member and assistant treasurer of the Orange Senior Citizens Club. Charlene enjoyed her family, especially time with her grandchildren. She also liked to do crafts, quilting, sewing, and traveling. Survivors include her sons, Charles Q. Sexton of Pepperell, Earle H. Sexton of Montague, Robert A. Sexton of Athol, and Sean M. Sexton of Florence; daughters, Kathlene M. Haney of Tennessee, Carolyn A. Hendricks of Athol, and Sunni R. Lyman of Orange; 15 grandchildren; and 1 great grandson There are no calling hours. Funeral services and interment in Silver Lake Cemetery, Athol, will be private. Witty's Funeral Home, 158 South Main Street, Orange, is directing the arrangements.
