Charlene O. Boggs, age 75, of Huntington WV passed away Monday, January 30th 2017 at Cabell Huntington Hospital surrounded by her family. She was born in Park Falls, Wisconsin on March 22nd 1941 to Philip C. and Martha (Kremin) Scheel of Phillips Wisconsin. She graduated from Phillips High School in 1959 and University of Wisconsin (Madison) in 1964. She later received her MA in Counseling from Marshall University. Charlene is survived by her husband of over 50 years, W. Fred Boggs and daughters Deborah E. Boggs (Phillip) Berthel of Dublin OH and Pamela A. Boggs of Huntington, and granddaughters Olivia S. and Mallory M. Berthel of Dublin, OH. She is also survived by one brother, Charles P. Scheel of Las Cruces, NM. After college graduation, Charlene was employed by the US Government and was assigned to a position in Berlin, Germany. In 1966 she was transferred to another post in Lenggrieis, Germany where she met and married her husband, Fred. After returning to the States they moved to the Huntington area where she became involved in many civic organizations. Charlene was a member of the Junior League of Huntington, Rotary Ann’s, League of Women Voters, IVY Dance Club, Garden Club, and served as both a Deacon and Elder of First Presbyterian Church. She also served on the Board of Riverview Manor, WV Symphony and Presbytery of WV. She was the Executive Director of CONTACT of Huntington and worked as a Counselor for Marshall University HELP Program. Charlene loved to travel and always looked forward to trips with friends and family. She enjoyed golf, tennis, her exercise classes at the YMCA and cheering on the Green Bay Packers. The family would like to express special thanks for all of the attention, care, and love received from the doctors and nurses during her 3 week stay in the Intensive Care Unit at Cabell Huntington Hospital. The family will receive visitors at Klingel-Carpenter Mortuary, 328 6th Avenue, Huntington WV on Monday, Feb 6th from 5:00-7:00pm. A memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church of Huntington on Tuesday Feb 7th at 11:00 am with a visitation following.
