Charles Alfred, 60, of Nashua, died August 5, 2016 at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack after a nearly two year battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born in Providence, RI on June 19, 1956 the son of John S. and Lucy (Botelho) Alfred. He grew up in Bristol, RI. He was educated in the local school system and was a 1973 graduate of LaSalle Academy. He graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 1976 with a Bachelor's Degree in Business and in 1978 with an MBA in Finance. He was also a member of the Delta Phi Fraternity.

Charlie had a long and successful career, over 37 years, as a software engineer and consultant. He worked much of that time at Foliage Inc. where he most recently held the position of Vice President and Chief Architect. Other companies where he honed his skills included Rapidata, Trans tech Services, Access Technology, Object Design, SCG Partners, the Sapient Corporation, Nuance Communications, Transparent Language and MedAcuity Software.

He had a passion for sports and was well known for his ability to use sports analogies in almost any situation. He was an avid fan of the New England Patriots, the Boston Bruins and the Boston Red Sox. He also coached T-Ball and was an assistant for boys' soccer. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Parish and a member of the Men of St. Joseph. Charlie will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, brother, uncle and friend.

Members of his family include the love of his life, his wife of 26 years Lorraine (Ricard) Alfred of Nashua, his daughter Katherine Alfred of West Lebanon, his son Daniel Alfred of Nashua, his brother John Alfred and his wife Maria of Narragansett, RI, his sisters Mary Ann Tooher and her husband Richard of Woonsocket, RI and Lorraine Alfred- Cortellessa and her husband Joseph of Bristol, RI, his nephew and godson Michael Alfred of Los Angeles, CA, his nephew Paul Johnson of No. Smithfield, RI and his nieces Stephanie Hilliker and her husband Brian of Portland, OR, Dawn Lopez and her husband John of Johnston, RI and Renee Cortellessa of Bristol, RI, his great-niece Alicia Dumas and great-nephew Alex Lopez, his aunt Florence Cummins of Warren, RI as well as many cousins and friends.

Visitation was held on Saturday August 13 from 10 am to noon at the Zis-Sweeney Funeral Home 26 Kinsley St. in Nashua followed at 1 pm by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated in Immaculate Conception Church 216 E. Dunstable Rd. Nashua. Burial followed in Edgewood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations in Charlie's name be made to the Community Hospice House 210 Naticook Rd. Merrimack, NH 03054 or to the American Cancer Society 30 Speen St. Framingham, MA 01701.
