Charles "Charlie" Alester Ackerman, 63, of North Charleston, SC passed peacefully on October 27, 2017 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on January l , 1954 to David and Vernette Ackerman.

Charlie was a retired Deputy with the Charleston County Sheriff”s Office. His favorite duty though?

Being with his beautiful daughter, Brittany. As a history buff, a hot cup of coffee and a good World War Il novel was Charlie's perfect evening. While he was a man of few words, he was a heart of many gifts. When his family called on him for anything- babysitting, dog sitting, or help eating a pot of roast and peach cobbler, his famous words would be "I'm on the way". His nieces and nephews will miss their uncertified family financial advisor, always checking in to make sure they were planning for their future and protecting their identity online.

Charlie's gentle spirit is already missed, but he can rest assured that "familia takes care of familia," and we will be there for each other. He leaves behind his daughter Brittany Liles (Travis); one granddaughter, Sadie Lou; his sisters Barbara McKettrick, Brenda Hoskins, Bonnie Mincey, and Lisa Livingston; his brother Donald Ackerman and many nieces, nephews and extended family.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to all of those who have given their friendship and love to Charlie. A police honor guard and memorial service will be held in his honor at noon on Saturday, November 4, 2017 at Carolina Memorial Gardens, 7118 Rivers Ave , North Charleston, SC
