Mr. Charles Edward Whitworth, age 75, of Eastanollee, GA, passed away Friday, February 14, 2014 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

Born July 23, 1938 in Franklin County, he was a son of the late L. A. and Sue Smith Whitworth.

Mr. Whitworth retired after 32 years with the State of Georgia as an engineer with the Department of Transportation. He served as the Stephens County Administrator for three years. He was a founding member of Grace Baptist Church.

Family members include his wife, Sandra Scott Whitworth; daughter, Pam Whitworth Lawson of Toccoa; brother and sister-in-law, Gerry and Cathrine Whitworth of Athens; grandsons, William Craig Lawson and Corey Charles Lawson; nephews, Jason Morgan Whitworth and Richard Grant Whitworth; great-nephews, Will Whitworth and Charlie Whitworth and great-niece, Lily Whitworth.

He was preceded in death by a son, Jeffry Scott Whitworth.

Funeral services will be held at Four o'clock, Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at Grace Baptist Church with the Rev. Kevin Burris and Mr. Craig Lawson officiating.

Burial will follow at Stephens Memorial Gardens with Military Honors provided by the Georgia National Guard.

The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers, Jon West, Billy Lawson, Bobby Jordan, Frankie Whitworth, Ricky Whitworth, Gerald Purcell, Jerry Purcell, and John Jordan.

Honorary pallbearers are Glenn Chapman, Buddy Smith, Clyde Rholetter, Bill Hicks, Marion Dodd, Virgil Reed, and Deacons of Grace Baptist Church.

The family will receive friends at the mortuary from 2 – 4pm and 6 – 8pm Monday.
