Charles Fredrick Whitney was born January 27th, 1935 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota to Clarence G Whitney and Mary (Austin) Whitney. He moved to Marshalltown after his mother passed away to live with his Aunt and Uncle. There he met Marj Springer at a church function, and they began their lifelong love for each other.

Chuck joined the Marines after graduation to travel and see the world. After traveling to see some of the world, he returned to the Marshalltown and eloped to Camp Lejeune, North Carolina with Marj. They were wed on July 10th, 1958. Chuck remained in the Marines for 20 years, serving at home and abroad. Chuck and Marj were blessed with three sons David, Thomas, and Michael.

He returned to Iowa as a recruiter for the Ames area until he retired from the service. He was employed at Sundstrand as a Machinist for the next 16 years. After he retired from Sundstrand, they moved to Green Valley, Arizona to enjoy their retired years. They later moved to Tucson, until Marj's passing last year in September. He then moved back to Iowa to be closer to his children and their families. He was living at the Cedars in Madrid.

He is survived by his sons, David Whitney of Nevada, Thomas (Pam) Whitney of Ames, and Michael (Dalene) Whitney of Huxley, as well as his brother-in-law Brice Springer of Tucson.

A small service will be held in Tucson, Arizona as well, where he will join Marj in burial.
