Charles Mackwell Unkrich, Sr. (Buddy), of Marrero, Louisiana passed away on August 29th, 2017 to be with our Lord and Savior. He was a loving father and grandfather, a Korean War Veteran serving in the United States Navy and a Licensed Towboat Captain for nearly 40 years. Retired for over 22 years, he continued his love of the water by taking 28 pleasure cruises. He is preceded in death by his mother Adah Elizabeth Unkrich and Father Clifford Unkrich, previous wives Maggie McLemore, Victoria LaCrosse, Rosalie DiChrecchio and his step daughter Pat Hynes. He is survived by his sister Mary Pollitz and her husband George Pollitz, sons Allen Unkrich and Chuck Unkrich and Chuck's wife Sonya, step children Phyllis Kalifeh and husband Steve, Charron Stokes and husband Gene, Marcel Reynon and wife Creshia, Arthur Reynon and wife Peggy, Larry Donato, Linda Rose, Michelle McCallister and husband Steve, Mike Donato and Nineteen Grandchildren and 30 Great Grandchildren. The family wants to extend a special thank you to his granddaughter, Kelly Reynon for her compassionate care given to "Buddy". They would also like to thank the staff of Heart of Hospice and his aid,Lienienka, for their care given to their father.
Age 84, a native of Biloxi, Mississippi and a resident of Marrero, Louisiana. "Buddy" enjoyed carpentry, going on cruises, a general handy man, built fishing nets, cooking, and mostly spending time with family and friends. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass at Westside Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 5101 Westbank Expy., Marrero, LA on Friday, September 1, 2017 at 11:00 am.
