Charles R. Vroom Jr., age 73, of Plymouth, died peacefully at his home on August 27, 2012. He was a devoted husband to his wife Joanne (Tolman) Vroom. Born in Cambridge, MA on February 17, 1939, he was a son of the late Charles R. and Ethel (Campbell) Vroom, Sr. He was educated in Somerville and was a graduate of Somerville Vocational School. He then entered the US Army where he proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. Following his enlistment in the US Army, Mr. Vroom had worked for most of his life as a conveyer technician for the John Hancock Mutual Life Insurance Company. He was the Past Commander of the American Legion Post 40, as well as past 40&8 commander and Past District 10 Commander. He will be honored by many for his dedication to those he served throughout the years. Mr. Vroom enjoyed fishing as one of his favorite hobbies. Mr. Vroom leaves behind his Beloved wife Joanne. He was the father of Charles J. "Chip" Vroom, Lisa (Vroom) Carpeno, and Harold Vroom . He was the cherished brother of Harold Campbell, Susan Preston, Virginia Vengren, and the late Shirley Porter. He was grandfather to Nick, Lindsey, Bryan, Mathew, Jeremy, Skylah, Brandyn, Haylee, and Alex. The funeral Service will take place on Wednesday, Sept.5 th, 2012 10 a.m. Visitation at the Cartmell Funeral Home on Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2012 from 4 to 7 p.m. Interment will follow in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, MA.
