Charles Richard Drace went home to be with his Savior on March 29, 2017. Richard was born, May 27, 1939 in Keytesville, MO to parents Alburn and Lucille Drace.
Richard developed a love for music at a young age, playing trumpet and baritone horn in high school. He majored in Music Education at Truman State University and began teaching beginning strings in Mendon, MO.
He met and married Connie Reeks in 1962, and they established their home in Raytown, MO. They were blessed with one son, Brad.
Richard and Connie were dedicated to Jesus and were active at First Baptist Raytown. Richard played valve trombone in the church orchestra for many years. He continued to teach violin in the North Kansas City School District for 31 years but then enjoyed his retirement by traveling to Europe, Egypt, Ireland and many locations throughout the United States. He was a kind and gentle man with a great sense of humor.
Richard is survived by his son Bradley Kent with his wife Rebekah, his sister MaryLou Kotz and his granddaughters, Audrey Michaela and Emma Elizabeth.
We look forward to celebrating his life at First Baptist Raytown on Monday, April 3rd. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 5:30, followed by his memorial service.
The family asks that you bring a jar of peanut butter or grape jelly (Richard’s favorites) to donate to Hope Network. You may also make a monetary donation to Hope Network or Raytown Education Foundation.
