HALE, Charles W., 87, the youngest of three sons of Earl Haywood Hale and Ruth Todd Hale, was a true native of Tampa, Florida. Charles was one of the first infants born at the new Tampa General Hospital on August 16, 1929. He died under Hospice Care on January 26, 2017 after a brief illness. He is survived by his wife of 59 years and best friend of 60 years, Myrle Halsey Hale; brother, Earl. H. Hale of Hopewell, Virginia, and numerous nieces and nephew. Chuck was predeceased by his parents and brother, Walter Hale.



Charles, also known as Charlie and Chuck, was graduated from Plant High School and the University of Florida, earning his B.S. degree in horticulture. Following his service in the U.S. Air Force, he resided in Hillsborough County serving as a Plant Specialist with the Florida Department of Agriculture.



An important side of Chuck’s life involved his participation in the breeding, raising, exhibiting and owning AKC Pedigreed Chihuahuas. His leisure was spent traveling in the USA and South America plus spending quality time in his beloved Scaly Mountain, North Carolina cabin.



A celebration of Chuck’s life will be on Wednesday, February 1, 2017, at 1:00 pm at Blount & Curry Funeral Home, 605 S. Macdill Ave. Private interment will follow in Myrtle Hill Memorial Park.
