Charles was born on January 29, 1931 and passed away on Thursday, March 8, 2018.

Charles was a resident of Chesterfield, Missouri at the time of passing.

Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Marlene Smith, three sons, Kenneth, Charles, and Ryan Smith, and his daughter, Michelle Vesth, and seven grandchildren. Charles graduated from Tolono High School in 1949, to serve in the Navy until 1951, then joined the Marines as 1st Lieutenant active duty with the Air Fleet Marine Force until 1956.

He then became an Aerospace engineer for McDonnell Douglas and subsequently with the U.S. Army Aviation Systems Command (AVSCOM).

Services: Funeral Mass at Incarnate Word Catholic Church, 13416 Olive Blvd., Chesterfield, MO 63017, Monday, March 12, 2018 at 12:30 p.m. Interment private. Visitation at the church lobby, Monday, 11:30 a.m. until the time of mass at 12:30 p.m. A service of the SCHRADER Funeral Home and Crematory.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Catholic Charities.
