Chester "Chet" Lee Cherry, Jr., 63 of Nashville and formerly of Bloomington died unexpectedly Friday, August 25, 2017 in Nashville. He was born March 10, 1954 in Evansville to Chester Lee Cherry, Sr. and Norma Jean Carpenter Cherry. Chet was working at the Artist Colony in Nashville.

Survivors include his children, Chad Lee Cherry of Nashville and Cheryl (Geoffrey) Owen of Bloomington; two brothers, Ron (Rosie) Cherry of San Antonio, Texas and Randy (Tom) Lichtenberger of Columbus, Ohio; a sister, Elizabeth Jean Warren of Cairo, Georgia; six grandchildren, Taylor Cherry, Ariel Kinder, Logan Cherry, Ainsleigh Cherry, Kiahna Cherry, and Hallie Owen; one great grandchild, Cashton Howe; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father prior to his birth; and his mother and step father, Norma Jean Lichtenberger and Kenneth E. Lichtenberger.

Chet had attended 1st Church of the Nazarene; he was a 1972 graduate of Smithville High School; and enjoyed traveling, taking pictures, classic muscle cars, and the Detroit Tigers. After working at Otis Elevator for more than 20 years Chet went on to work in restaurant management, first at Chapman's Restaurant and then the Artist Colony in Nashville.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 5, 2017 from 3:00 - 6:00 PM in Day & Deremiah-Frye Funeral Home, 4150 E. Third St. Funeral Services are scheduled for Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at 6:00 PM in the funeral home with Pastor Patrick Shay officiating. Burial will occur in Humboldt Cemetery in Humboldt, Illinois at a later date.
