Chief Master Sergeant Robert George Fisher, Sr. (Ret.), died on Thursday, August 24, 2017 at the age of 78. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Fredrick Fisher, Jr. and Gertrude Selby. He was the beloved husband for 55 years of Judy McCabe Fisher; loving father of Robert G. Fisher, Jr. (Vickie), John M. Fisher (Lisa), James J. Fisher (Tracy), and Jody P. Fisher (Lori); devoted grandfather of Zachary, Gwendolyn, Maranda, Jacob, and Matthew Fisher; great grandfather of Dax and Reese Cuccio, and Brantlee Benoit; brother of Gerald Fisher (Patsy); brother-in-law of Henry J. McCabe, Jr. (Juanita); and cousin of Janet Bohannon (Jerry) and Glenn DeBrueys (Mary Beth). He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.



Chief was born in New Orleans on March 26, 1939, and graduated from Warren Easton High School in 1957. He’s resided in Kenner since 1967.



Chief was a member of the La. Air National Guard 159th Fighter Wing (Coonass Militia) from 1956 until 1998. He was the area director and past vice president of Air for La. National Guard Enlisted Association. He was past president of La. Air National Guard Retiree Association, and a member of the Enlisted Association National Guard United States. Bob was also a member of “Good Old Metairie Boys”, CCA, Dragons Dance Club, and La. Air National Guard Retirees Bass Fishing Club. He also enjoyed fishing, reading, volunteering with the St. Jerome Council Knights of Columbus, and spending time with his grandchildren.



Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. in New Orleans, on Friday, September 1, 2017 at 1:00PM. A visitation will be held at the funeral home beginning at 11:00AM. Interment will be private.
