Christiane (Tina) Hausner-Wernli

December 25, 1940 – April 3, 2017

Christiane Hausner-Wernli passed away on April 3, 2017 in her home surrounded by her family after a short but courageous fight against her cancer. A memorial service will be held on April 22, 2017 at the Valhalla Funeral Home Chapel on Winchester Road at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to Russel Hill Cancer Foundation in Memory of Tina Wernli.

Tina was born on Christmas Day 1940 in Gransee, Germany. After the war she initially lived in the Russian sector of Germany with her grandmother moving to the West at the age of fifteen just prior to the closing of the boarders. As a young woman she worked for the British Army in Germany as a translator. After migrating to the United States she earned her nursing license and worked in hospitals, free clinics, and private practices. She was respected throughout the Huntsville medical community for her expertise, insight, and compassion. She will be missed.

Tina is survived by her husband of fifteen years Paul Wernli, her son Dean Charman, her daughter Patsy DuPree, her step sons Brian, Kenneth, and Jimmy Wernli, eleven grandchildren, and one great granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her father, Johan Hausner, her mother Barbara Hausner, and her brother Sylvester Hausner.
