Mrs. Christine Flowers Atkins, 83, went to be with the Lord on Christmas Day, 2017 at the Hospice Home at High Point.
Mrs. Atkins was born on December 23, 1934 in Union County, NC, a daughter to the late Lee Will and Viva Taylor Flowers. She was the faithful and loving wife of Pastor Elbert B. Atkins, Jr. for over 63 years. Together, they served the Lord and she was the epitome of a dedicated pastor's wife.
Mrs. Atkins was a true southern lady of many talents. She loved to paint, fish, camp, travel, and spend time with her family. Most of all, she was a well-known cook who had mastered her own macaroni and cheese and swiss chocolate cake recipes.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Pastor Elbert B. Atkins, Jr.; and siblings, WL Flowers, Virginia Robertson, and James Flowers.
Mrs. Atkins is remembered by her daughter, Barbara Atkins Cox of Archdale and a son, David Lee Atkins and wife Trish of Archdale. In addition there are 2 granddaughters, Ashlee Atkins Long and husband Jeff of Archdale and Shana Cox Atkins and husband Scott of Thomasville; 3 grandsons, K. Clay Cox of Wallburg, TSgt Bret M. Cox USAF of Georgia and Matthew Atkins of High Point, 2 step-granddaughters, Ivie Cook and husband Brian of Greensboro and Kathryn Walker of Archdale and 8 great-grandchildren, Caleb and Trevor Long, Chandler, Averee and Cabot Atkins, Matthew and Ethan Cox, and Kevin Matthew Atkins II. She is also survived by sisters, Jean Johnson and husband Larry and Brenda Thompson; and brother-in-law, Charlie Robertson.

A celebration of Mrs. Atkins' life will be held at 1 pm Thursday, Dec. 28 at Harvest Church, 4915 Guilford College Road, Greensboro, with Pastors K. Clay Cox, Todd Brock and Cole Younger officiating. Interment will follow at Floral Garden Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:30 am until 1 pm prior to the service at the church and other times at the home.
