Christopher "Chris" Koulouvaris, a United States Army veteran of 40 years, departed this life on Thursday, November 30, 2017. He was 59 years old. He is survived by his wife Maria Eleni, his children Michael and Annette, his mother, Irene, his brothers, Nick (Leah) and their daughters Eirene and Natalie, Steve (Melanie) and their children Michael and Julia, Bill (Maria) and their children Nichole and Theo.



Chris was born on March 12, 1958 in Athens, Greece. His parents, Irene Koulouvaris and the late Michael Koulouvaris, immigrated to the United States in 1968. From a young age, Chris knew he wanted to serve in the Army to defend his country. In his formative years, Chris was a stand-out wrestler and inspiring leader. He was the first in his family to attend college, where he excelled in academics and the Army Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) program. He graduated from the University of South Florida in 1983 as a Distinguished Military Graduate, receiving a degree in Criminal Justice. Upon graduation, Chris was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Army. He served in a variety of command and staff assignments throughout his 20-year decorated military career, including commanding soldiers in combat during Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm. Chris' numerous military decorations include the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star, and multiple Meritorious Service Medals. Upon retirement from the Army in 2003, as a Lieutenant Colonel. Chris continued to serve his country as a Government Civilian, as well as began a successful entrepreneurial career that included building several profitable businesses.



Chris dedicated his life to the service of others and embodied the Army core values of loyalty, duty, honor, and integrity. He was deeply proud of his Greek/Spartan heritage and ensured younger generations of his family knew and appreciated their culture. He was most proud of his children, Michael and Annette, and encouraged them to always follow their dreams. Chris lived every day of his life passionately, pursuing perfection in everything he did. He was a faithful Christian that lived his life as an example for others. Chris was an exemplary son, brother, father, husband, uncle, friend, and soldier. Christopher "Chris" Koulouvaris touched the lives of everyone who knew him, and he left the world a better place.

Burial Service: at Sylvan Abbey, following Church Service
