CLAIRE ELIZABETH TWEEDY, AGE 83 TRANSYLVANIA, LOUISIANA Cox Funeral Home Lake Providence, Louisiana Funeral services for Claire Elizabeth Tweedy, age 83, of Transylvania, Louisiana will be 10:00AM, Tuesday, June 12, 2018, at the First United Methodist Church in Lake Providence, Louisiana with Rev. Kenneth King officiating. Interment will be in the Providence Memorial Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Cox Funeral Home of Lake Providence. Visitation will be Monday from 5:00PM - 9:00PM at Cox Funeral Home of Lake Providence, Louisiana. Claire Elizabeth Ragus Tweedy died early in the morning on June 10, 2018 at her home in Transylvania after a long battle with re-occurring cancer. She was surrounded by family. She is preceded in death by her husband, Ray Tweedy; parents, Ed Howard Ragus and Mabel Claire Williams Ragus; brother, Herman Ragus. Claire was one of three children, Claire grew up in East Carroll Parish, and was very active in 4-H during her school years. She attended college at All Saint's Episcopal College in Vicksburg, MS. She was an Army wife moving from base to base during the Korean War. After her husband's discharge, they returned to East Carroll where she became a farm wife. She was a mother to three boys. Claire never met a stranger, and met everyone with a smile. She was a very active member of the United Methodist Church of Lake Providence. She worked for many years at Farmers Feed & Seed, then helped out at Transylvania Water Company. She assisted many area businesses. She took care of her mother for many years until her mother's death in 2003. Claire always had time for family and friends. All who knew her will miss her presence in their lives. Claire is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, David Harvey Jr. and Tressa Harvey of West Monroe, Louisiana; son, Mike Harvey and Wanda of Monroe, Louisiana; son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Janie Harvey of Brookhaven, Mississippi; daughter-in-law, Pat Harvey Buskirk and her husband Jim Buskirk of Transylvania, Louisiana; five grandchildren, Tracy Raymond and husband Brad of Oak Grove, Louisiana, Amy Raymond and husband Pete of Oak Grove, Louisiana, Jan Morrison and husband Russell of Dodd City, Texas, Michael Harvey and wife Tesa of Trenton, Texas, Taylor Flowers of West Monroe, Louisiana; numerous great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Morris "Buddy" Ragus and Sally Ragus of Pittsburg, Pennsylvania; sister-in-law, Louise Ragus of Monroe, Louisiana. Pallbearers will be Robert Harvey, Terry Lynn Jones, Zack Hooper, Joey Hooper, Bill Brady Oswalt, Shay Clement. Honorary pallbearers will be Bob Robertson, Wallace Oliver, Tommy Ellis. In lieu of flowers, memorials made be made to the American Cancer Society @ P.O. Box 42040, Oklahoma City, OK 73123 or St. Jude Childrens Hospital @ 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TH 38105.
