Claire Y. Desrosiers (Desruisseau), 85, of North Dartmouth, MA, died on Thursday, June 8, 2017.

Claire was a stay at home mom for several years caring for her husband and her children. She made everyone feel welcomed in her home and made it known that there was always room for one more person around the supper table. Oftentimes, she would make up baskets of food and leave it on the front porches of families that were struggling, especially around the holidays. Her favorite hobby was planning family vacations; whether it was a cruise or a week at a beach resort, Claire enjoyed having her family together. Her favorite vacation spot was Aruba. Mrs. "D" was a Girl Scout leader of Troop 10 at St. Kilian's Church in New Bedford for several years. She planned several trips to New York City with the scouts. She was often seen with her husband, Albert, at Brooklawn Park watching softball games.

When she returned to the workforce, Claire started at Knapp Shoe as a bookkeeper. She then worked for several years at the unemployment office in New Bedford. Claire ended her working years with the Town of Fairhaven as a Senior Clerk with the Water Department.

Claire is predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Albert who passed away on December 24, 2016; her parents Lorenzo and Flora Desruisseau; her two brothers, Leo and Richard; and her lifelong friend and "sister", Lucille Lefebvre. She is survived by her six children, Diane Gauvin and her husband Michael of Salem, NH, Suzanne Dumas and her husband Raymond of Egg Harbor Township, NJ, Janine Duarte and her husband Steven of Dartmouth, David Desrosiers and his wife Diane of St. Charles, IL, Jacqueline Longo and her companion Dennis Catterall of Acushnet and Stephen Desrosiers and his wife Lauren of Dartmouth; eleven grandchildren, Brian, Matthew and Jason Rinehart, Rae-Anne (Dumas) Brown, Nicholas Dumas, Claire (Desrosiers) Boven, Henri, Lillian, Amanda and Timothy Desrosiers and Nicholas Longo; six great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Claudette Desruisseau; and many nieces and nephews. Also, Claire leaves behind many caring and loving friends who made her life at The Residence at Cedar Dell a very happy home for the last five years.

Her Funeral will be held on Monday, June 12, 2017 at 8 am from the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME at DARTMOUTH, 230 Russells Mills Rd., Dartmouth followed by her Funeral Mass at 9 am in St. Anthony of Padua Church, 1359 Acushnet Ave., New Bedford. Visiting hours Sunday 2-5 pm. Burial will be private in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne. For tributes and online registration: www.waring-sullivan.com
