COLUMBIA - Clarence Dean Bellamy, 91, passed away on July 30, 2017. He was born in Horry County S.C., the son of Emerson T. and Bonnie Cox Bellamy. He is survived by his wife, Johnie Mae Chestnut Bellamy; son, Cary D. Bellamy (Sarah); grandsons, Christopher (Malaika) and Ben; daughter-in-law, Sam Bellamy; and brothers-in-law Jerry Chestnut (Tricia) and Donald Smoak. He was predeceased by a son, Russell J. Bellamy; two brothers, Henry and Edwin; and his sisters, Ernestine, Angelina and Bonita.



A private family burial will be held at Greenlawn Memorial Park with a memorial service at 2:00 p.m. in the Sanctuary of First Presbyterian Church in Columbia on Saturday, August 5, 2017. The family will greet friends immediately following the service in Jackson Hall.



Mr. Bellamy graduated from Conway High School and attended the University of South Carolina, where he majored in accounting and completed one year of graduate studies in accounting. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of WWII serving in the Mediterranean and South Pacific. Mr. Bellamy was also a Veteran of the Korean War. He was Comptroller with Columbia Wholesale, Inc. where he retired following 23 years of service.



He was active in the Presbyterian Church, serving as a deacon and elder and Treasurer of the Congaree Presbytery until the end of the PCUS. He was honored to be elected as an Elder Emeritus.



Memorials in lieu of flowers may be made to the Deacons Fund, First Presbyterian Church, 1324 Marion St., Columbia, S.C. 29201.
