Clarence E. “Buddy” Stockton, Jr., 91, of South Charleston, WV passed away July 6, 2017 at the Hubbard Hospice House West following a long illness.



Buddy was born on March 5, 1926 in Moundsville, WV, the son of the late Clarence E., Sr. and Mary E. Miller Stockton. Buddy left Charleston H.S. to join the Merchant Marines (Coast Guard) to serve his country in World War II. Upon his discharge, he was drafted into the US Army and served in the Philippines. Upon return, he obtained his GED and attended the Charleston School of Commerce. He retired from CSX Railroad with 40 years of service as an auditor. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #20, Scottish Rite, St. Albans Moose Lodge 868, and the Christopher Columbus Lodge. He was a longtime member of the Passepied Dance Club and appointed as a Kentucky Colonel. Prior to attending the St. Paul United Methodist Church in South Charleston, he was a deacon at the Schwamm Presbyterian Church in Charleston.



He is survived by his son, Charles “Dick” Stockton and his wife, Margy, of Charleston; granddaughter, Penny Walker; great-grandchildren, Jeffery Walker and Aleah Walker; and his long-time very special friend, Maria Miragliotta Roberts.



In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Heloise Barrows Stockton.



The family would like to extend a special thank-you to Hubbard Hospice and personal caregivers, Teresa C. Baber and Heather Westfall.



Services will be held on Monday, July 10 at 2:00p.m. at Tyler Mountain Funeral Home with Rev. Frank T. Shomo officiating. Burial will follow at Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens with military honors and Masonic Rites.



Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service.
