Isaiah 40:31 Mrs. Claretha P. Sharper Hughes, daughter of Marion and Ethel Mae McDowell Sharper, was born May 3, 1952 in Lynchburg, South Carolina. She departed this life on Tuesday, October 11, 2016 at McLeod Regional Medical Center. She attended the public schools of Lee County and graduated in 1970 from Mount Pleasant High School. Claretha was a faithful member of Abundant Life Church after returning from California to attend for her mother. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her son, Alfornia Kennedy; as well as two brothers, Marion Sharper, Jr. and Johnny E. Sharper. Those left to forever cherish her memories are: her husband, Samuel L. Hughes of the home; a daughter, Alqueta Fatima Jones; a step-daughter, Samantha L. Hughes; eleven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; her mother, Ethel Mae Sharper of Lynchburg, SC; two brothers, Willie (Jean) Sharper of Timmonsville, SC and Douglas Sharper, better known as "Rickey" and his special friend, Bertha Pat Dizzley; a sister-in-law, Hope (Elvin) Like of Lee, KY; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
