Services for Claudie Gerald Humphrey, 82, of Piedmont will be Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. at Thompson Funeral Home with the Rev. Jerry Pike and the Rev. William Cain officiating. Burial will follow at Piedmont Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends two hours prior to service. Mr. Humphrey passed away Saturday, May 13, 2017 at his home. Survivors include his four children, Eva Rountree (Kelly) of Piedmont, Lora Ivey (Barry) of Jacksonville, Gerald Humphrey (Connie) of Piedmont, and Matthew Humphrey (Jane) of Jacksonville; 11 grandchildren, Mickey Maddox, Vanessa Rountree, Chris Hill, Kyle Hill, Cassie Hill, Elijah Ivey, Cody Humphrey, Gerald Humphrey, Jr., Ryan Humphrey, Charlie Humphrey, and Ciera Couch; 17 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; one sister, Myrtice King of Piedmont; one sister-in-law, Faye Humphrey; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Chris Hill, Elijah Hill, Kyle Hill, Charlie Humphrey, Gerald Humphrey, Jr., Brandon Maddox, and Kyle Maddox. Honorary Pallbearers will be Terry Humphrey and Ryan Humphrey. Mr. Humphrey was a longtime resident of Piedmont, retired from M&H Valve and loved taking care of his peach orchid. He was a member of Northside Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School and a Chairman of the Deacon Board. He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 ½ years, Eunice Moon Humphrey.
