Cleo McGruder of Bloomington, passed away on April 12, 2017. She was born in Gary, Indiana on September 5, 1938, the daughter of Leo and Mary Frances(Hampton)Brown.
Cleo lived in Bloomington most of her adult life. She married William Milton McGruder in Bloomington. He preceded her in death in 2000. Cleo worked at RCA as an assembler for many years and finished her career at Cook Medical.
Cleo is survived by her four children: Keith York-McGruder(companion Lisa Payton), Robert McGruder, Kevin McGruder(companion Michele Day) and Mary Jane Hoene, five brothers: Joe, Richard, Raymond, David and Paul Brown, two sisters: Yvonne "Bonnie" Fitzpatrick-Moore and Helen Polk.
She is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren.
Cleo was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Shirley Poindexter, brother Charles Brown, sisters Leola Deal and Vickie Brown and two nephews: Carl Deal and David Brown.
Cleo loved her family, enjoyed many family cookouts, her dear friend Peggy, coloring books, word puzzles and walking when she was physically able.
Miss Cleo will be greatly missed by her family and friends, but her life will continue on through them all.
A celebration of Miss Cleo's life will be held on Tuesday, April 18, 2017 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Day & Deremiah-Frye Funeral Home, 4150 E. Third St., Bloomington, Indiana 47401. At 1 p.m. friends and family will have the opportunity to speak about Miss Cleo's life and continue the celebration with joy, laughter and love.
