Cleo Watkins Schoolfield, 92, was reunited with her loving husband, Carl and welcomed by her Savior on July 31, 2017. She was truly faithful to God and lived her life for His glory. Her family will celebrate her life on Friday, August 4, 2017 at 12 PM in the Lineberry Center of Hanes-Lineberry N. Elm chapel with Reverend Carol Williams-Gilbert officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM on Thursday at the funeral home.
Cleo was born in Wilkes County to the late Avery Thomas and Dolly Mayberry Watkins. She attended Winston-Salem and Forsyth County Schools and was a graduate of The Twin City College of Commerce. She was the first employee of what is now Truliant Federal Credit Union and retired in 1983 with 30 years of service. She was also a member of Lee's Chapel United Methodist Church since the late 1980's where she was active in the Methodist Women's Group and sang in the choir.
Her grandchildren have the most wonderful memories of GG living next door to them. In the morning they shared devotions and every evening she led them in prayer. It was of utmost importance to Cleo that they knew the love of Christ. Their summers were filled with great times with GG and D-Daddy. She and her husband, Carl Lee Schoolfield, were blessed to have shared a beautiful union and most importantly had almost 30 years together as retirees which allowed them time to travel the world. Cleo was a happy woman who lived a good clean Christian life and was not afraid to die.
She leaves to cherish her memory her grandchildren, Ashley Schroll (John Meyer) of Greensboro and Brandon (Cammie) Schroll of McLeansville and great granddaughter, Kayla Meyer. In addition to her parents and spouse she is preceded in death by her daughter, Victoria Schroll, two sisters and one brother.
