Clifford Earl Freeman, 88, passed Sunday October 22, 2017.
Cliff is survived by his wife, Masu; his son Robert Freeman, his brother Jim (Shannon) Freeman, his sister Margaret (Howard) Dupree, his sister Shirley Freeman and several nieces and nephews.
Cliff was born in Oglethorpe, Georgia February 31, 1929 and shortly after moved to Richland, Georgia, Columbus, Georgia, and finally Albany, Georgia.
In his early years he helped with chores around the farm, until the Great Depression hit and they had to move to Albany. In Albany, Cliff exceeded in school, scholastically and athletically. Being a star quarterback for his football team, Cliff earned a scholarship to college where he completed 3 years and then joined the Navy.
In the Navy he learned to work electronics by being a radar man. He was stationed in Japan where he met and fell in love with Masu. When transferred back to the United States, he obtained a job at GE and began working on some of the first computers. While working for GE he was transferred to Japan where he married Masu on October 24, 1956. They returned to the United States and Cliff began to work for Honeywell in their IT department. After several years they adopted their son Robert Freeman.
In Cliff's later life, he was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served faithfully for several years as a ward clerk. On Sunday's, he and his wife Masu served as teachers to the children in his ward. He also served as a family history missionary in the Mesa, Arizona Family History Center.
A public visitation service will be held at 10am and will be followed by a public graveside service at 10:30am on October 26, 2017 at Phoenix Memorial Park and Mortuary.
