Constance Ann Akers Witt, 88, of Fayetteville, passed away Thursday, November 19, 2015 at the Ansted Center at Ansted.

Born on August 26, 1927 at Kaymoor, she was the daughter of the late Other Lee Akers and Aldena Hoback Akers.

A native West Virginian, Connie Witt married John in 1945. In 1949, Connie moved with John to Baltimore Maryland. Upon returning to Fayetteville, she and John opened their own business, Radio-TV Clinic. After closing the business, Connie worked as an Office Manager for a medical group and was later an employee of the March of Dimes before retiring. After retiring, Connie was very active in volunteering as a tax specialist helping the elderly prepare their tax forms. Connie enjoyed the World War II reunions of John’s Battalion and they traveled to reunions as well as hosted the reunions in West Virginia.

Connie was a member of the Fayetteville United Methodist Church and a member of the Oak Hill 3 F’s prayer club.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Dorothy Akers Baker and one brother, Mike Akers.

Left to cherish her memory include her three children, Jon Gregory Witt and wife, Pat of Boothbay Harbor, Maine, Stephanie Lynn Koren and husband, Jon of Mineral, VA, and Paul A. Witt of Fayetteville; two sisters, Patsy Akers Cowsert of Indian Harbour Beach, Florida and Kay Akers Phillips, of Fayetteville; eight grandchildren – Nicholas Witt, AJ Witt, Alana Sharp; Allyson Darling and her husband Mike, Lee Bellomy and his wife, Amanda; David Koren and his wife, Kelly; Jennifer Koren and Katie Koren; six great-grandchildren – Jackson and Julia Darling; Christopher and Caitlin Koren; McKaylee Allen; Skylar Witt; and a host of other family and friends.

The family will receive friends from 11 AM to 12 PM, Saturday, November 28, 2015 at the Fayetteville United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be at Noon, Saturday, immediately following the viewing. The service will be officiated by Charlie Garvin and Rev. Clare J. Sulgit. Burial will be at Huse Memorial Park and Mausoleum, Fayetteville. Memorials may be made to the Fayette County Education Fund, 310 Oyler Avenue, Oak Hill, WV 25901 to the continued endowment of the John L. Witt Scholarship awarded each year to a graduate of leadership in Fayette County or to a charity of your choice that would benefit Fayette County.
