Constance (Connie) Smart , 81, of Mission Hills, Kansas passed away peacefully on Thursday September 25, 2014. Connie was born in Kansas City, Missouri and was a lifelong area resident. Connie was the daughter of the late Virginia Power Lounsbery and George Hoyt Lounsbery. She attended Southwest High School and Greenbrier Junior College in Lewisburg, WV.





Connie was a member of St. Andrews Episcopal Church for over 70 years and served on the Altar Guild, Trinity Guild, and as Junior Warden on the Vestry. She was also a founder of the Simply Divine Gift Shop at St. Andrew’s. She was a member of the church staff from 1990-1995 as the Director of the Guild of the Christ Child. She was involved in almost every aspect of the church for many years. She was honored to receive the Rector’s Cross in 2012. She was a member for many years of the Junior League of Kansas City, MO. She was involved with Community Children’s Theater and the Research Hospital Auxiliary. Connie served as Ball Chairman of the BOTAR Organization, and was an American Royal Governor for many years. She was a volunteer at Friendship House and Catherine’s Place.





She leaves her husband of 59 years Robert L. Smart of the home; her sons Robert L. Smart, Jr, (Julie Townsend Smart) and Christopher M. Smart (Angela A. Smart) , grandchildren Sarah E. Smart, David O. Smart V, Eleanor T. Smart, Courtney M. McClelland and Anna C. McClelland.





She touched so many lives and was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend to all and will be missed by so many.





Connie’s family wishes to thank the incredible staff at St. Luke’s Hospice, especially Erin Drury and Connie’s in-home care provider, Cindy Harrison.





Funeral services will be September 30, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. at St. Andrews Episcopal Church, Meyer Blvd. and Wornall Road, Kansas City, Missouri . Memorial contributions may be made to St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in memory of Connie Smart.
