Corwin James MacDonald (Jim) passed away on June 16th surrounded by his family. He was born September 6, 1935 to Malvina and Clyde MacDonald in Carrington, North Dakota one of five children. In 1941 Jim’s family moved to Portland, OR where he later attended Franklin High School, graduating in 1954. It was there he met and fell in love with Penny Robinson and they married in 1955. The MacDonald family grew with the births of Jeffery, Lisa, Steve, Diana and Curtis. Soon after graduating, Jim joined an apprentice program in the sheet metal trade, working there until 1962 when he took over his father’s business, Mac’s Radiator in Portland. Over the next 35 years, Jim expanded Mac’s to become one of the largest radiator businesses located in Pacific NW. In his industry, Jim MacDonald was well respected for his forward thinking but mostly for his upmost integrity. Many members of the ever growing Mac family spent their summers working for Mac’s Radiator and Uncle Jim. He retired from the business in 1997. After retiring Jim had more time to pursue his love for home remodeling; often planning and designing the next one before the last one was completed. There wasn’t a house in the family that Jim did not improve. Jim, Penny and their son Jeffery enjoyed many winters in the Palm Desert area where his circle of friends grew. Those who knew him were touched by his loving care for their oldest son “Jeffie” who was with Jim and Penny until his passing at the age of 59. Jim was always available to lend a hand for family and friends when he was needed and his strong personal faith was well known. He will be remembered for his winning smile and twinkle in his eye.

Jim is survived by his loving wife of 62 years Penny; his daughters Lisa Burson (Rob), Diana DeBray; son Curtis MacDonald (Jackie), daughter-in-law Renee MacDonald, 11 grandchildren,7 great-grandchildren, sisters Alida Schmitt (Bob), Coline Cooper (Glen) brother Phillip MacDonald and a host of extended family, friends and Mac’s Radiator employees. Proceeding Jim in death were his sons Jeffery MacDonald, Stephen MacDonald and sister Edith Plews.

A service will be held at Sunset Memorial on June 22nd at 1:00. The family suggests remembrances of Jim’s life be to The Arc of Multnomah and Clackamas County.
