Staff Sgt Curtis John "CJ" Gardner, USAF, of Tampa died on April 10, 2017 at the age of 29, while serving at Incirlik Air Base in Turkey. During CJ's time in the Air Force, he deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as a number of short deployments.
CJ had a song for everything, earning him the name "RADIO" from his Defenders. There was no Disney tune CJ didn't know, and he'd look for opportunities to insert lyrics into every situation. CJ was a friend to everyone and had a smile that would brighten the gloomiest of days. He will be missed by all who knew him.
CJ is survived by his beautiful wife Clarissa; parents Patrick and Katerina; siblings Emily, Erin (Alex), Mary and Kevin; in-laws Rafael and Lina; the entire Gardner and Perez families; and his beloved boxer, Booker.
We will celebrate CJ's life on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at Garden of Memories, 4207 E Lake Ave, Tampa 33610. Visitation will begin at 10AM, followed by a service at 11AM. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to The Wounded Warrior Project.
