Curtis D. "PaPa" "Too Tall" Mathews, died Wednesday, May 3, 2017. Funeral service is Saturday, 3pm at Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home in Kennesaw with Pastor Bill Floyd and David Johnson officiating. Burial will follow the service at Pineridge Memorial Park with military honors. Friends are cordially invited to visit with the family on Friday at the funeral home between from 6pm until 8pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Curtis to the Food Pantry Ministry at Shiloh United Methodist Church, 3860 Cherokee Street NW, Kennesaw, GA 30144.
Mr. Mathews was a retired Avionics Engineer and had served our country honorably in the United States Air Force. He and his wife Janette were married 59 years and they were active members of Shiloh United Methodist Church. A proud American, Curtis continued to serve his community with the American Legion. A fun loving gentleman, "Papa" was a doting grandfather with his grandchildren and their friends alike. He never met a stranger, if he did, they became friends quickly. Family and friends will remember Curtis as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and friend.
Those who survive Mr. Mathews include his wife - Janette Hamby Mathews, son & daughter in law - Bruce and Lisa Mathews, sister - Irma Tyjeski, grandchildren - Gwen, Savannah, David, Kali, and Kirbi, great grandchildren - Ashley, Bethony, Alex, Austin, and Aubrey. Curtis was preceded in death by his son - David Lott, daughter - Pam Dean, brother - Thomas Mathews, and his sister - Merle Moses.
