SFC Cyrus Emmett Teter, Jr. USA RET., 82, of Willards passed away Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center. Born January 26, 1935 in Worcester County, MD he was the son of the late Cyrus Emmett Teter, Sr. and Sophia Molner Teter. Cyrus was in the last graduating class from Buckingham High School. Following graduation he joined the United States Army and served as Military Police for 20 years until he retired as a Staff Sergeant in 1977. While serving in Fort Richie, Maryland he met and married his wife Nadine who was also serving in the United States Army. While serving they were stationed in Fort Meade, MD, Germany, and Thailand. After retirement from the military, he worked as a mechanic at Barrett Chevrolet, Good News, and Pittsville Motors. He was a member of the American Legion and past member of Showell United Methodist Church and Eden United Methodist Church. He was a loving, husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who loved to go hunting, fishing, crabbing, clamming, and working on cars. He had a big heart and would help anyone in need. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Cora Nadine Teter; four children, Priscilla Bratten and her husband Mark; Christine Wachsmuth, Cindy Cherrix, and Cyrus Aaron Teter and his wife Jennifer; ten grandchildren, Kyle Gray and his wife Samantha, Chris Gray (Deanna Poag), Brandon Taylor and partner Steven Culver, Kristy Blumenaur and her husband Ryan, Nathaniel Wachsmuth, Jessica Cherrix, St Sgt. Tommy Cherrix USAF, Cyrus Teter student at Rochester University, and Kevin, and Carson Teter; six great-grandchildren, two brothers, Howard Teter and his wife Penny and John E. Teter, Sr.; three sisters, Fay McCabe, Louise Marell, and Charlotte Teter; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Florence Cowart. A Celebration of Cyrus’s Life will be held Sunday at 1pm at Bounds Funeral Home on East Main Street in Salisbury where friends may call one hour prior to the service. Interment with Military Honors will follow.
