Dana Alison Wyckoff, 57, of Washington, DC, formerly of New York City and Chappaqua, NY, passed away Monday, October 30, 2017, after a fierce and determined battle with cancer. She was the treasured daughter of the late Barbara Heafey Wyckoff and Edwin Brit Wyckoff.

A writer and communicator by profession, Dana was also a life-long volunteer both in her adopted home of Washington, DC, and in her native New York City. While a student at Horace Greeley High School in Chappaqua, she volunteered at the Costume Institute at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and at Northern Westchester Hospital. Her volunteer work for the 1992 Democratic National Convention in New York led to a position in the White House Office of Public Liaison during the Clinton presidency, followed by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the Farm Credit Administration and eventually her most recent position in marketing for WETA, the leading public broadcasting station in the nation's capital. As a volunteer in DC, Dana championed community organizations, including the Rosedale Citizens' Alliance for the development of the Rosedale Library and Recreation Center; and, she served as an Executive Board member for the Federation of Friends of the DC Public Library.

Dana attended Boston University and transferred to New York University where she earned a bachelor's degree in English and medieval literature.

Dana adored all of her pets and supported animal welfare causes. She was an avid reader and was known for her wit, humor, cooking skills, keen interest in politics, and generosity toward those in need. She leaves behind her aunt Roslyn Rusinow of New Jersey, many cousins, many more friends, a godson and a couple of four-pawed companions who will all miss her dearly.
