Darcy L. (Shoal) Neser passed away peacefully Monday October 3, 2016. Celebration of Darcy's life will be held on Saturday, 3:00 pm, October 8, 2016 at Whitney United Methodist Church, 3315 Overland Road, Boise. Burial services will take place at a later date in Plentywood, Montana and Honolulu, Hawaii.
Darcy was born in Plentywood, Montana on June 6, 1962. She enjoyed growing up in a small town and on the farm and was especially fond of her horse Ricki. She graduated from Plentywood High School in 1980 and attended Montana State University where she graduated with a degree in Finance in 1984. Upon graduation she moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico where she worked in the financial aid office at the University of New Mexico. Darcy spent 9 years in New Mexico and established many long lasting friendships and pleasant memories. Not one to miss an opportunity for adventurous change, Darcy accepted an academic scholarship to the University of Hawaii at Manoa. Darcy studied Speech Pathology and graduated with her Master's Degree. Darcy went to school and worked in Hawaii for 6 years.
Darcy then moved to Boise, Idaho in 1998 to take a job with the Elks Rehabilitation Center. Soon after her move she met her husband Rick. She started a new administrative career with the State of Idaho in 2001 and always had good things to say about her work and colleagues. In 2004, Noa was born and became the focus of her life. Darcy loved her family and putting family first. She enjoyed camping, hiking and long walks. She had a great eye for art, decorating and was active with various forms of crafting. She had a great sense of humor and was always quick witted. She handled adversity with composure and grace. Her determined demeanor carried her and her family through the rough periods. She was always admired for her mental toughness and never give up attitude. One of her latest accomplishments, while going through treatment, was completing the Stephen Ministry Program. She completed the training to become a Stephen Minister in August of 2016. Darcy always patiently and selflessly took the time to give thoughtful, apt, and cogent response that was always helpful and comforting.
Darcy is survived by her husband of 16 years, Rick, daughter Noa, mother Evelyn Shoal, mother in law Lory Neser, sister Donelda Buckalew (Dan), sister in law Linda Pogan (Ross), brother Mark Shoal (Heather), brother in law Mark Neser, nieces Kayla Buckalew, Marrissa Neser, Hina Pogan, nephews Dustan Buckalew, Jon Shoal, and Nick Neser. She was preceded in death by her father Donald Shoal, father in laws Fred Neser and Arnold Furutani and niece Megan Shoal.
