DAROLD GENE CARLAT, SR.

August 4, 1931 – December 20, 2017

Darold G. Carlat, Sr., 86, passed away peacefully at the Bay Pines VA Healthcare on Wednesday, December 20, 2017. Mr. Carlat was preceded in death by his parents, A. E. and Elsie Carlat; his wife of over 50 years, Mary H. Carlat; a sister, Betty Carlat; and two sons, Darold Jr. and Danny Carlat.

Left to cherish his memory is his sister, Sharon Carlat of Lake Hazase, AR; his five sons, David Carlat of Gulfport, MS, Delwin Carlat (Beverly) of Ellisville, MS, Dale Carlat (Cindy) of Greenbrier, AR, two step-sons, Alan Tweedie (Cynthia) of Sommerville, AL and Robert Tweedie (Tracy) of Oneonta, AL; his four daughters, Darlene Aycock (Keith) of Mayflower, AR, three step-daughters, Sandy Green of Hemet, CA, Jeanette Carlat of Huntsville, AL, and Lorraine Swofford (Tom) of Kansas City, MO; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews; and several other relatives and friends.

Darold loved life and family and lived his life bold and proud! He was a proud veteran of the US Air Force and after his service years spent most of his working years as Security at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville. An expert bowler, Darold hit the lanes two days a week religiously well into his 80’s! He was a happy member of Elk’s Lodge where he had his own reserved table set up for all his special friends to fellowship together. He continued to be a BAMA fan even after he had moved from Huntsville to Florida. He liked spaghetti, but his favorite was definitely that baloney sandwich on Sunday afternoon. Darold Carlat was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him!
