Daryl Theadore Prudom died peacefully at home on Sunday, June 4, 2017. He was born on July 19, 1927 in Princeton, Michigan to Carl and Lottie (Booker) Prudom. Daryl graduated from Gwinn High School in 1945 and enlisted in the armed forces to serve his country. He was a World War II veteran of the United States Marine Corps, serving in Okinawa, North China and Japan from 1945-1949 with the 3rd Amphibious Corps.-6th Marine Division. In 1951, he was recalled to active duty for the Korean Conflict and served with the Advanced Training Corps. in Camp Pendleton, California as a Company Gunnery Sargent until his discharge in 1952. Daryl married the former Rosemary L’Huillier on June 3, 1950 and they were blessed to celebrate their 65th wedding anniversary in 2015. They started their family and had three sons, Dennis, Tim and Scott. Daryl’s employment career started with the Cleveland Cliffs Iron Company from 1950 to 1954 as a timber repairman. In 1954 he worked for the J&L Steel Corporation as a miner until he began his career with the Michigan State Police, a job he held until his retirement from the Negaunee Post as a Detective Sergeant in 1981. Not one to sit still, he continued to work from 1981 to 1984 as an insurance investigator and lastly as a janitor for the Upper Peninsula Power Company at the Presque Isle Power Plant from June 5, 1984 until his final retirement on July 1, 1994. Daryl is survived by his sons, Dennis (Kathy) Prudom and Scott (Faye) Prudom, both of Marquette; grandchildren, Jason (Alina) Prudom of Waukesha, WI, Megan (John) Jarvis of Frostburg, MD, Heather (Bill) McCabe of Marquette, Ashley (Bill) Hill of Negaunee, Craig (Melissa) Prudom of Grand Isle, MI, Jamie Prudom of Battle Creek, MI and Erik Prudom of Marquette; great grandchildren, Aleksandra, Landon, Keely, Liam, Levi, Tristan, Jaxson, Adilynn, Jailen, Vienna, Brady, Sydney, Jayden and Isabelle; also a sister-in-law, Alice L’Huillier. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Rosemary; mother and father, Carl and Lottie; stepmother, Stella Prudom; sister, Ellen Blomquist; son, Tim and daughter-in-law, Dolores Prudom and a great grandchild, Payton McCabe. A memorial service will be held in the Canale-Tonella Funeral Home on Friday at 12:00 Noon with the Rev. Msgr. Michael Steber officiating. Burial will take place in the Park Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday beginning at 11 a.m. until the time of the service. A luncheon will take place in the funeral home immediately following the service.
