At the age of 9 he was helping his dad farm with horses in the Ruff area. In 1953 David and Carey moved from the Ruff area to south of Odessa where he continued to be involved in farming until the age of 80.

David's family, children and grandchildren were very important to him and he was their number one fan. David is survived by his wife Carey, four children; Linda (Robert) Winfield, Robin Higginbotham-Jasman, Amy (Jerry) Rhoads and Lee (Gaemmi) Jasman. He was the best grandpa to his eight grandchildren: Joe (Val) Winfield, Erik Winfield, Jenny (Nolan) Harris, Ryan (Kelly) Higginbotham, Sharla (Ken) Jones, Kyle (Hanna) Higginbotham, Jessica (Justin) Wentland, Denielle (Chris) Spring and his 13 great-grandchildren: Kayleigh, Logan and Joshua Winfield, Carter, Clara and Avery Higginbotham, Kailyn and Brentyn Jones, Jackson, Blakely and Henry Higginbotham and Jaxon and Jayda Wentland.

David is also survived by his brothers Harvey (Loretta) Jasman, Edwin (Doris) Jasman and Kenneth (Doneen) Jasman and his sister Elsie Jasman, along with numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, sister and brother in-law Esther and Adolph Ramm, niece Jan Jasman and great nephew Jason Jasman.

David was a member of the Heritage Church, WWII Army Veteran, Odessa American Legion, Odessa Historical Society, Odessa Grange, Odessa Trading Company, Odessa Union and the Lincoln County Conservation District Farmer of the Year in 1977.

As a young man he played baseball on town team leagues in both Ruff and Odessa. He was a Seattle Mariners fan and had an opportunity to attend a game at Safeco Field. David was a master at woodworking, restoring cars, farm equipment and furniture. Many of these items are on display in the Odessa Museum. He enjoyed gardening and fishing. David and Carey traveled to numerous National Parks, Alaska, Hawaii, Washington D.C. and took a paddle boat down the Mississippi River. Sunday afternoons after church would find David and his family boating. He enjoyed teaching family and friends to water ski.

David was a friendly and cheerful man whose smile and kindness will be missed by many.
