David L. Good, 59, of Grinnell, Iowa, died on Sunday, June 18, 2017, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa.

A memorial service will be held 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 24, 2017, at the Grinnell Christian Church with Anthony Nieuwsma officiating.

Friends may call at the Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell beginning 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 23, 2017 and the family will be present at the funeral home from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday.

Should friends desire, memorials may be directed to the David L. Good Benefit Fund and sent in care of the Grinnell State Bank, P.O. Box 744, Grinnell, Iowa 50112.

David was born on December 24, 1957, in Fairfield, Iowa to Thomas and Doris Lawrence Good. The family moved to Grinnell and he graduated with the Class of 1977 from Grinnell-Newburg High School. Following high school, Dave worked at the Standard Oil Station in Grinnell and developed a love of auto mechanics. He worked for many years in the service department at Wes Finch Auto Plaza and became GMC World Class Certified. In 2005, he established Good Enterprises and operated Dave's Repair until the time of his death.

Dave found joy in working at his business and was known as a master handyman. He was a member of the Hermon Masonic Lodge of Grinnell and the First Friends Church.

Survivors include his two sons, John (Aimee) Good of Des Moines and Josh (Jenifer) Good of Grinnell; five grandchildren, Raven, Brayden, Sebastian, Jason and Zoey; one brother, John (Margaret) Good of Eldora, IA; and one sister, Emma Lou (Everett) Krumm of Wichita, KS.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Richard.
