David Lee Green, 77, of Owensboro, Kentucky died Sunday, November 1, 2015, at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. He was born December 19, 1937 in Evansville, Indiana. He retired from Alcoa Warrick Operations and had served in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the Ensor Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed sport clay shooting and won many national competitions. He was a successful drag racer and also enjoyed Nascar racing. He was preceded in death by his father, David Leonard Green and a sister, Anna Louise Green. Survivors include his sons, David Green (Diane), Mark Green (Cathy) and Jeff Green (Michelle); four grandchildren, Rachel Calloway (Chad), Tyler Green (Whitney), Kaylie Green and Austin Green; three great grandchildren; his mother, Lucille Green Messel; a sister, Cindy Howson (Paul); two nephews, Lee McBrayer and Paul Howson, Jr. (Katie); and three great nieces, Maggie and Meryn McBrayer and Angel Howson; his companion and fiancee, Sue Buckner; Sue's two children, Deborah Fasig (Don) and Michael Saultzman (Joy); and Sue's five grandchildren, Samantha and Taylor Fasig and Autumn, Hunter and Chase Saultzman. Services are 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 4, 2015, at the Chapel of James H. Davis Funeral Home & Crematory in Owensboro. Burial with military honors is in Elmwood Cemetery in Owensboro. Visitation is from 4:00-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday and after 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Motor Racing Outreach, Suite 405, 5555 Concord Parkway, Concord, NC 28027.
