EPSOM-David R. Olson, 53, of Epsom, NH passed away peacefully following a very brief period of declining health surrounded by loved ones on Saturday, January 6th at Mass General in Boston.
David was born in Boston and was raised in Braintree with his four brothers. David obtained his degree in culinary arts at Newbury College and continued his education at Bridgewater State College. During culinary school, he met his wife, Susan Auclair. The two later married in September 1987 and moved to Epsom to build their home and start a family.
David worked tirelessly for the Puritan Backroom for over 15 years, leaving a lasting impression on customers and employees. Since 2012, David has worked for the NH Supreme Court and the Administrative Office of the Courts as a grounds and building maintenance assistant. David is loved by everyone who has met him; his sense of humor and quick wit never failed to make others smile.
David was an avid car enthusiast who often referred to his car collection as his "old iron". He was well known in NH for owning and showing his 1965 Chevy replica of the Scooby Doo Mystery Machine! He also loved cooking, vacationing at St. Pete Beach in Florida, and most of all, spending time with friends and family.
He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Susan (Auclair) Olson of Epsom; son, Derek Olson of Loudon; daughter, Elizabeth Olson of Epsom; brothers, Robert Olson and significant other, Doreen Dean of Braintree, MA, Carl Olson and wife, Eleanor of Braintree, and Kenneth Olson and wife, Wendy of Franklin, MA. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Calling hours will be held at Bennett Funeral Home, 209 North Main St. Concord, NH 03301 on Thursday, January 11 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, charitable contributions may be made to NH SPCA or Children's Hospital at Dartmouth-Hitchcock (CHaD).
Arrangements are entrusted to the Bennett Funeral Home of Concord. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at https://www.BennettFuneral.com for the Olson family.
