Mr. David Vance Cooke, Jr., 88, of Connelly Springs, passed away on Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at his residence, following a period of declining health.
David was born on June 30, 1928 in Burke County to the late David Vance Cooke, Sr. and Etta Lail Cooke. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was a retired fixer in the hosiery industry.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline McNeely Cooke, and three children, Doris Cannon Poteat, Shirley Cannon Clark, Charles Dean Cannon.
Survivors include three children, Patricia Cooke Deal and husband Gregory of Morganton, JoAnn Cannon Huffman of Rutherford College, and Rebecca Cannon Morales of Drexel, one brother, Otis Cooke and one sister, Jean Smith. Also surviving are seven grandchildren; Amy Marie Trivett and husband Dale, Matthew David Deal and wife Kendra, Alan Huffman, Susan McGee, Michael Poteat, Kathy Powell and Deanna Dula Moore, numerous great-grandchildren and special friends and neighbors, Jackie and Elbert Tipton, their children, Kim Summerow and Jim Tipton and their family as well.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, June 17, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. at Fellowship Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday, from 10:00 until 10:45 A.M. at Heritage Funeral Service in Valdese.
