GARRISON, Dayne Carl, 62, of Tampa, FL died Sunday morning, 15 January 2017 from heart disease. The son of Ernest Martin Garrison and Joan Martine Kelly Garrison, he was born in Newport News, VA on 26 July 1954. His family moved to Davis Islands, Tampa in August 1963. He attended Gorrie Elementary, Wilson Jr. High, and H.B. Plant High Schools in Tampa before enrolling in Florida State University, from which he graduated in 1976. He later joined his father’s firm, Garrison Glass Co., in Tampa and eventually assumed ownership of the firm after his father’s death in 1997. Surviving Mr. Garrison are his mother, Joan Garrison and her husband Owen Brewer of Tampa; his sister Amy L. Garrison and her husband Thomas Emmett of Newport, RI; three maternal aunts; at least 20 cousins; more than a few caring neighbors; and a wide circle of close friends.



Mr. Garrison had a keen interest in the physical and spiritual aspects of the martial arts, achieving the rank of 8th degree black belt Grand Master in Kempo Goju. In 2011, he set a world record when he broke 79 2” concrete blocks in one minute with his foot. He also enjoyed photographing nature, pistol shooting, baking and cooking, supporting the Seminoles, and reading the Bible.



Funeral services will be held in the chapel of Hyde Park United Methodist Church at 500 West Platt Street, Tampa at10:00 a.m., Friday, 20 January 2017. Ashes will be interred privately. Blount & Curry Funeral Home - MacDill is handling the funeral arrangements.
